Oromo Liberation Army Chooses Peace to Address People’s Demands

The Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) has announced its decision to pursue peace, responding to the demands of the Oromo people. This follows the recent peace agreement aimed at ending years of conflict in the Oromia region.

Why the OLA Chose Peace

The OLA leadership emphasized that peace is the only way to address the people’s concerns. Jaal Senni Negasa, the Central Zone Commander of the OLA, stated that the decision reflects the people’s call for stability and progress.

“Our people have suffered enough. We chose peace because it is the only solution to their struggles,” Jaal Senni explained in a statement.

Fighting Misinformation

Jaal Senni addressed rumors circulating online, clarifying that the peace agreement was a voluntary step. He dismissed claims that the deal undermines the group’s mission, stating that the decision was made in the interest of the people.

“These false allegations ignore the realities on the ground. We are committed to peace and rebuilding,” he said.

Steps Toward Peace

As part of the agreement, OLA fighters are transitioning to camps for training and reintegration. These programs aim to prepare them for civilian life and enable them to contribute to their communities.

The OLA leadership urged critics to support the peace process, emphasizing its potential to address long-standing challenges.

Rebuilding Oromia

The conflict has caused immense suffering for rural communities. The OLA is committed to reconciliation and development, with plans to rebuild affected areas and promote unity.

“This agreement will bring relief to our people. It’s time to focus on healing and progress,” Jaal Senni said.

Hopes for a Peaceful Future

The peace agreement includes three committees to oversee its implementation. This step has raised hopes for stability in Oromia and a brighter future for its people.

Conclusion

By choosing peace, the Oromo Liberation Army is taking a critical step toward stability and development in Oromia. The leadership remains hopeful that this decision will bring lasting benefits to the region.
