Addis Ababa, Ethiopia- The Amhara Region Health Professionals Association announced that four healthcare professionals have been killed and many others arrested due to the ongoing conflict in the region.
According to Voice of America, the association’s secretary reported that health professionals across various areas of Amhara have lost their professional freedom.
It is reported that two pharmacists in West and North Gojam zones were killed two weeks ago, while a nurse was shot and injured in Bahir Dar city.
A medical professional from the central Gondar zone, who requested anonymity for safety reasons, disclosed that two colleagues at Metma General Hospital and the manager of Aira Hospital in Gondar city were arrested due to their perceived association with the Fano group.
