Addis Ababa, November 2024 – The Ethiopian Air Force celebrated its 89th anniversary with a grand exhibition of modern aviation and military technologies at its Bishoftu base. This year’s theme, “Sovereign Nation, Invincible Air Force,” reflected the Air Force’s commitment to national defense and technological advancement.
Key Highlights of the Event
The closing ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including Field Marshal Berhanu Jula, Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces. African air force commanders, military attachés, senior government representatives, and invited guests were also present.
Newly completed projects were unveiled during the celebration, such as:
Pilot’s quarters
A new army dining hall
An asphalt road within the base
Field Marshal Berhanu Jula inaugurated an exhibition featuring cutting-edge military innovations. The showcase included drones, upgraded weapons, and advanced equipment developed by the Ethiopian Air Force, the Defense Engineering Industry Corporation, and the Ethiopian Defense University.
Showcasing Homegrown Military Technology
One of the event’s highlights was the Tsehay 2.0 aircraft, designed and built by the Ethiopian Air Force. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) applauded this achievement on his social media, emphasizing its importance in enhancing Ethiopia’s defense capabilities.
The exhibition underscored the Air Force’s ability to innovate and adapt to modern challenges, contributing to Ethiopia’s strategic and technological independence.
